ARTIST HOUSING

Byrdcliffe maintains ten cottages for summer rental and nine houses for yearly rental. These simple wood Arts & Crafts style structures were all constructed in 1903 as part of the original Byrdcliffe Art Colony. We rent these houses to artists and craftspersons working in all disciplines and media, with the express purpose of maintaining Byrdcliffe as a locus for creative collaboration and experiences. For consideration, potential tenants will be required to submit a portfolio of their work.

YEAR-ROUND RENTAL - FARMHOUSE - AVAILABLE FOR RENT!!

The Farmhouse, our largest single family residence in the Byrdcliffe Art Colony, is available for rent.
The Farmhouse was built in 1903 as the home of the head farmer at the Byrdcliffe Art Colony. Its architecture is very similar in appearance to White Pines, the home of the founders of Byrdcliffe. The wood framed L-shaped house is 2,032 square feet large and surrounded by lawn on all sides. The two-storied house includes 3 bedrooms, one bathroom, large kitchen, living room, porch, second floor balcony and large garden shed. Other interior features include a brick fireplace and central staircase. Utilities (oil for heat and electricity) are not included. Monthly rent is $1,600. Potential tenants must be professional artists.

SUMMER SEASON RENTAL - THE FORGE - AVAILABLE FOR RENT!!

The Forge, a wonderful artist house in the Byrdcliffe Art Colony, is available for rent this summer (May through September, 2012).
The Forge was built in 1903 as the metal working studio for the Byrdcliffe Art Colony. The original fireplace and bellows are preserved in the living room. Today, the renovated building serves as a summer artists' residence in a wooded glade close to the center of the Art Colony. The 1350 square foot cottage includes a large living and dining space, separate kitchen, two bedrooms, one of which can serve as a bedroom or studio workspace, one full bathroom, and a fully screened porch. Utilities are not included. $6000 rent covers the five summer months, May - September, 2012. Potential tenants must be professional artists.
