Byrdcliffe is one of the oldest and most prominent Arts and Crafts colonies in the United States.  Wood and metalworking, weaving, painting and pottery became Byrdcliffe hallmarks. Today, Byrdcliffe works are in public and private collections, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum, the Milwaukee Museum, the Newark Museum, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Winterthur Museum, Gardens, and Library in Delaware. During 2005, an exhibition of Byrdcliffe work was curated by Cornell University and traveled the nation. Visit www.museum.cornell.edu/byrdcliffe for images and descriptions.

Much of the WBG's Byrdcliffe collection is currently in storage in a controlled environment, awaiting upgrading of facilities. Objects may be made available for research purposes upon request to the WBG. Photos of a few objects are shown here. (Click thumbnail picture to see larger photo.) This online photo collection is under development, and will expand during the first months of 2006. The WBG adds to its collection as opportunities arise; a recent significant acquisition included furniture, pottery, photographs, and paintings.
