Winter Children's Chorus and Adult Choir with Nancy Chusid!!

Nancy Chusid, Music Artist in Residence at The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, is an oboist, recorder player, teacher, conductor, composer, and an author of a collection of American Folk Songs for Children. She has played music and sung with people her whole life. In her singing groups she creates a safe and fun place to learn, and presents songs that are inspiring and meaningful, both traditional and composed, from all around the world.

Some of the members of Byrdsong, the Guild’s Community Chorus have been singing together for more than 6 years, and we are so delighted to be able to rehearse every week in the Kleinert James where the artwork and the acoustics are so inspiring.

We sing together every Wednesday at 6:00. New members are welcomed on a trial basis. Sight reading is not necessary, but good listening skills are mandatory, along with a commitment. In addition to our regular concerts at the Guild, the group also sings informally for friends who are house bound or in hospital or hospice or nursing homes.

In the last year we have been adding more instruments to our arrangements of songs, including cello, guitar, flute, recorders and oboe. Along with our annual Solstice Concert celebrating the Longest Night, this year we are singing our way across the new Walkway over the Hudson on October 3.

The Woodstock Guild’s Community Children’s Chorus is a non auditioned group of children ages 6 through 12. In their rehearsals, movement and singing activities support the growing community of singers that they are becoming. We also have seen the art work on display in this gallery become a part of the classes as the children respond to this visually rich environment.
