The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild presents Byrdcliffe Night at the Opera, a boisterous evening of song and celebration at the Byrdcliffe Barn. This annual blockbuster event is presented by Hudson Valley diva and stage director Maria Todaro of the Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice, who has stunned audiences in her roles as Bizet’s Carmen and Rosina in The Barber of Seville. This year’s guest star is Laura Virella, a mezzo-soprano from Puerto Rico who has performed with the Washington National Opera, Ópera de Puerto Rico, Theater Rudolstadt, Wolf Trap Opera, Dicapo Opera, Festival de Santa Florentina and Lüneburg Opera. Louis Otey and Maria Todaro will perform as well, with acclaimed pianists Doug Martin and Justin Kolb at the keyboard. The evening will also feature young emerging talents from the region: Ali Bailey, Phoebe Hoolihan, Andrew Pulver, Layla Michelopoulos, Olivia Veier, Maia Weiss, and Maria Whitcomb. This year’s theme is “Sirens of the Voice,” celebrating women in the arts.
The evening starts with hors d’oeuvres at 6:00 pm, then an elegant dinner at 7:00 pm, followed by a lively night of music at 8:00 pm. After the musical performance, there will be a champagne and dessert reception with the singers.
Opera attire is strongly suggested.
