Harmonious Earth Workshop - $20 (member price)

The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild is offering a Harmonious Earth Kids Workshop. In this two-hour workshop, children will join Environmental Educator Erika Haberkorn on a nature exploration through the trails of Byrdcliffe and Mount Guardian, experiencing the woodlands, wildlife, and freshwater ecosystems. Upon return to the Byrdcliffe Theater, a creative activity, "Art of Nature," will be offered in which the children will have the opportunity to create art projects using natural materials collected from their explorations. In addition, yoga with fun interactive music and indigenous sound activities will be offered, led by instructor Jennifer Dignon Mehlich, founder of Heart Child Yoga.

Participants will meet at the Byrdcliffe Theater at 380 Upper Byrdcliffe Road. It is suggested that children wear a hat, sunblock, and insect repellent if desired. Sneakers or other comfortable footwear are important. Please pack a healthy snack and water bottle. Children are also encouraged to bring their own indigenous musical instruments (drums, rattles, wooden flutes, etc.).

Registration is limited to 15 participants per session early sign-up is a must. The 2-hour workshop is $25 per child, or $20 for children of Byrdcliffe members. Register online (above) or call 845.679.2079.

Erika Haberkorn is an Environmental Science Educator with 20 years of experience creating Exploratory Nature education programs and workshops for children (ages 6-12 years). She is the founder of Nature's Teachings, a grass-roots advocacy and educational organization that offers children the opportunity to explore and learn about nature in a fun and interactive way. Art, music, and wellness activities are offered in her Harmonious Earth workshops.

Jennifer Dignon Mehlich is the founder of Heart Child Yoga and has studied with children's yoga Gurus Sonia Sumnar and Shakta Kaur Kalsa. She is a licensed Special Education and General Education Teacher. Her yoga teachings include the program "Yoga at School," targeting benefits that relate to school performance, including self-awareness, physical and emotional needs, and school success.
