Byrdcliffe’s wonderful annual Winter Solstice tradition continued this holiday season with a performance by Happy Traum & Friends at the Bearsville Theater. This year, Happy was joined by John SebastianLarry CampbellTeresa WilliamsAmy HelmByron IsaacsPaul Rishell and Annie Raines, with special guest performer Abby Newton on the cello.

MARK DONATO with MARK LERNER & ERIC PARKER and… ALT-COUNTRY ARTIST AMY ALLISON
Celebrated local songwriter Mark Donato will perform at the Kleinert/James Center for the Arts with brilliant musical cohorts Mark Lerner and Eric Parker. And in a rare area appearance, acclaimed alt-country songwriter Amy Allison from New York City – whose latest CD features a duet with fan Elvis Costello – will also perform.

The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild presented a concert featuring Madera Vox, an indie-classical ensemble combining high and low-brow musical styles.

BYRDCLIFFE NIGHT AT THE OPERA
The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild presents: Byrdcliffe Night at the Opera – a gala end-of-the-season evening at the Byrdcliffe Theater featuring Louis Otey and Michelle Jennings accompanied by Douglas Martin and the Woodstock Chorale. There will be a special tribute to the Turnau Opera, long resident at the Byrdcliffe Theater in the 1950’s and 60’s and a dedication of the historic opera mural by Woodstock Artist, Arthur Zaidenberg. Following the performance there will be a champagne and dessert reception. Opera attire, however you interpret that, is strongly suggested. We hope to see you for a festive evening of song and celebration.

On Saturday, September 1, the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild presented a concert featuring Jeremy Bernstein and friends, and Ben Perowsky’s Moodswing Orchestra featuring TK Wonder. The concert was held at the Byrdcliffe Barn, 485 Upper Byrdcliffe Road, Woodstock NY.

PETER WETZLER – PIANO CONCERT
Peter Wetzler’s current performance series is a marriage of his roots as a classical pianist with his career as a soundtrack, theater and dance composer crossing over into experimental new music, minimalism, jazz and folk. During these unique concerts of completely unscripted improvisational piano, one hears evocations of Messiaen, Part, Eastern European, Middle Eastern and Latin infusions in an exploration of melody and rhythm. Supported by the Vincent Wagner Fund.

BYRDCLIFFE FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS
Byrdcliffe presented the first annual Festival of the Arts, Friday through Sunday, July 13 – 15, 2012, at the Byrdcliffe Art Colony and other venues around Woodstock. Seventeen regional arts organizations (Byrdcliffe Festival Cabaret, Clyde Forth Visual Theatre, Connor Kennedy & Friends, Drum Boogie Festival, Happy Traum, Gioia Timpanelli, Lucas Handwerker, Pam & Mimo, Paul Green Presents, Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice, Salsa Workshop, Too Much Information, Tracy Bonham, VOICETheatre, Woodstock Film Festival, Woodstock Players, and Woodstock Writers Festival) presented performances ranging from concerts, films, stage plays, spoken word to dance performances.

The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild was pleased to present a very special benefit concert featuring Peggy Seeger and Pete Seeger, on Saturday, March 17, 2012, 8:00 pm at the Bearsville Theater. Proceeds of the event support the ongoing work of Byrdcliffe as a center for the arts and a community for artists in the Hudson Valley.

There were four ticket categories: $100 for seats in the first four rows (rows A through D, seats 1 through 14); $50 for seats in the first two rows of the balcony (rows BA and BB, seats 1 through 9); $35 for all other seats in the theater; and $20 for standing room only tickets.

The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild presented Mike + Ruthy and Friends on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Byrdcliffe’s Kleinert/James Center for the Arts. The show was a special hometown pre-release party to introduce The NYC EP, a collection of six compelling new songs, scheduled for release on April 17th. The EP includes Mike + Ruthy’s newly re-crafted Woody Guthrie ballad, My New York City. Mike + Ruthy were joined onstage throughout the evening by musical friends including: Elizabeth Mitchell and Dan Littleton of Ida, and Mammals band mate, Jacob Silver; with more tba.
