WINTER SOLSTICE 2017 with HAPPY TRAUM & FRIENDS
On Saturday, December 16, Byrdcliffe’s Annual Winter Solstice Concert was held at the Woodstock Playhouse. Curated and hosted by New York folk star Happy Traum, the Solstice Concert featured favorite musicians singing a combination of holiday and American classics. It’s a concert to which everyone goes happy, and leaves happier. This year, Zach Djanikian, Amy Helm, Byron Isaacs, Bruce Molsky, Geoff Muldaur, Eugene Ruffolo, John Sebastian, and others performed with Happy, a versatile, entertaining, and culturally edified musician who has been making records for over 50 years. Tickets are $67, $47, or $27, with proceeds from the event supporting Byrdcliffe’s ongoing work as a center for the arts in the Hudson Valley. Read more…

LOKASPARSA DANCE PROJECTS PRESENTS BONE CHORUS
On Sunday, November 5, 7:00 – 10:00 pm, Lokasparśa Dance Projects with Circle of Friends for the Dying presented “Bone Chorus”, shaking out ideas about our mortality to expose what sifts down into raw experience. NATALIE MERCHANT CELEBRATES THE RELEASE OF HER NEW 10-CD BOX SET
Natalie Merchant celebrated the release of her 10-CD box set The Natalie Merchant Collection with a free event at Kleinert/James Center for the Arts in Woodstock on Saturday, July 1. The event, presented by The Golden Notebook, Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, and Radio Woodstock WDST, included an interview with Merchant, an audience Q&A, and a short performance. MARC BLACK: THE HISTORY OF THE 1950s AND 60s THROUGH POPULAR SONG
Favorite folk-rocker and socially conscious lyricist, Marc Black, brought his History of the 1950s and 60s through Popular Song to Byrdcliffe’s Kleinert/James Center for the Arts on Saturday, April 22, 2017, 8 pm. The program took concert-goers on a joyful trip through these historically defining decades with conversation, song, and a slide show. BYRD & IMAGE – OPEN MIC NIGHT
On January 28, as part of the Annual Members’ Show Byrd & Image, Byrdcliffe’s Third Annual Open Mic Night gave member artists and other residents of the Hudson Valley community the opportunity to flaunt their talents beyond the visual. Singers, poets, banjo-players, comedians, story-tellers, actors, pontificators, and variants thereof were invited to take the mic. The Kleinert/James’ historic Steinway B was rolled out for any who’d like to play. All were invited to take part, not just Byrdcliffe members. Byrdcliffe resident Marc Delgado, a singer-songwriter with a wry sense of humor and crowd-pleasing finesse, emceed the event. Admission is free and open to the public.

JACK DEJOHNETTE: CONCERT FOR INNER PEACE
On Friday, January 20, 2017, the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild presented jazz luminary Jack DeJohnette in a solo piano performance, “A Concert for Inner Peace”, at the Kleinert/James Center for the Arts. The concert proceeds benefit Family of Woodstock, Woodstock Artists Association and Museum, and the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild. Read more…
