SUMMARY:Connan Mockasin
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT \nByrdcliffe and Sister Midnight are thrilled to welcome Connan Mockasin to the historic Byrdcliffe Theater for one performance only. This is the first time Connan has played in the US since 2019. \nConnan Mockasin is a New Zealand singer-songwriter\, composer and record producer. Described as “a psych-funk oddball…a contrarian”\, Mockasin played a role in the contemporary crossover of psychedelia with indie music\, and has been praised for his unique approach to songwriting. \nConnan’s third album\, Jassbusters\, is his first in five years. An unclassifiable\, unconventional album that neither picks up from nor abandons the modes of 2013’s widely-embraced Caramel or its 2010 predecessor Forever Dolphin Love\, Jassbusters foreshadows a five-part melodrama film titled Bostyn ‘n Dobsyn\, created by Mockasin. Jassbusterssoundtracks the unpredictable narrative of the film in eclectic\, electric ways. \nWhether bending genres or collaborating with artists like James Blake\, MGMT\, and Charlotte Gainsbourg\, Connan Mockasin has always maneuvered in mysterious ways. After touring with the likes of Radiohead and Neil & Liam Finn (Crowded House)\, the R&B surrealist continued assembling a cult around his theater\, nay spectacle of life with Bostyn ‘n Dobsyn screenings and Jassbusters performances throughout October and November 2018. \n$35 general admission

DESCRIPTION:PURCHASE TICKETS \nStory Songs offers an evening of theatrical\, wild\, and deeply narrative-driven music. Having written songs and collaborated across genres for more than 20 years\, singer Chris Wells and guitarist Jeremy Bass draw from their extensive back-catalog alongside brand-new original compositions. Critics have highly praised the duo’s creative partnership: \n\n“A bit of razzle dazzle to chase away the gloom.” – The New York Times\n“Orson Welles telling David Sedaris stories in a Taylor Mac Show.” – American Theater Magazine\n“Hilarious and heartwarming.” – Broadway World\n“Best of Off Off Broadway Theater in NYC.” – Time Out NY\n\nWells and Bass are also the minds behind the 2005 cult-hit musical Olsen Terror and serve as the driving forces behind the renowned downtown art sanctuary and “artchurch\,” The Secret City\, which they founded in 2007. \nAbout the Artists: \n\nCHRIS WELLS is an Obie Award-winning performer\, writer\, teacher\, and arts activist who creates theater\, community celebrations\, music\, and literature. SUMMARY:An Evening with Tim Moore
DESCRIPTION:PURCHASE TICKETS \nDue to the area storm and to provide the best safety for our guests\, Byrdcliffe had to reschedule the September 26 performance by Tim Moore. If you purchased advanced tickets\, your purchase will be honored on the new date. If you would prefer a refund\, please contact us at info@woodstockguild.org \nByrdcliffe is pleased to welcome back musician Tim Moore for one night only. Moore’s sold-out 2025 concert was a highlight of Woodstock’s summer music season\, and this year the Woodstock resident returns with a new mix of songs and the same band. Respected as a top-tier writer by songsmiths ranging from Jimmy Webb to Keith Richards\, Moore is known for the stylistic reach of his songs\, from guitar rock and blues to heart-rending piano ballads. That nimble genre-crossing may help explain both his unusual career and his singular niche in music history. \nIn much of the world\, Moore is best known for his piano ballad “Second Avenue.” In Brazil\, he became a star with his number-one pop song “Yes.” His guitar riffs on his rock anthem “Rock and Roll Love Letter” sparked a friendship with Keith Richards\, leading to memorable all-night jam sessions with the Rolling Stones. Moore recalls\, “Locking in with Charlie Watts night after night was one of the great thrills of my life.” \nMoore’s many musical strands came together in last year’s Byrdcliffe concert. “There’s no theater anywhere like Byrdcliffe\,” Moore says. “It’s over a century old. You can do anything—be intimate or rocking and it fits. It feels like the ghosts of the place are listening.” Asked what might be different this time\, Moore says\, “My band was so sharp last year. Besides playing new songs\, and a surprise cover or two\, we might loosen up and jam more this time. Things could get grittier.” \nMoore’s band features longtime sideman Rob Stein on pedal steel and guitars\, Manuel Quintana on drums\, and Kyle Esposito on bass. Sarah Power and Bruce Milner will join for vocal harmonies. \nByrdcliffe members: $30\nNot-yet-members: $35\nPURCHASE TICKETS
