SUMMARY:Experimental Animation
DESCRIPTION:Register  here \nForget what you know about Disney and Nickelodeon cartoons (as cool as they are) – animation can be anything and made by anyone! In this workshop we’ll make mesmerizing looping animations by learning two experimental techniques: “weaving loops” and “the Ehrlich Effect” \nNo prior animation experience needed\, nor is it preferred.  Come animate in this pressure-free environment\, and by the end of the night leave with a satisfying gif you can show people at parties \nFor inspiration\, we’ll also take a look at the works of animators Anna Firth\, Caleb Wood\, David Ehrlich\, Amelia Johnston\, and Cecily Russo. \nJOHN QUINN is a current Byrdcliffe Artist-in-Residence\, graduate of Pratt Institute’s 2D Animation program\, and a presenting animator  in this past year’s Woodstock Film Festival.  His work is often experimental and analog – a mix of stop motion and various mediums on paper.  A goal outside of his personal practice is to make animation more accessible\, which is the idea behind this workshop series.  Lately he’s been drawing inspiration from programs like The Electric Company and Schoolhouse Rock and animators Sally Cruikshank and Vince Collins.  “‘The magic of animation’ I think turns a lot of people away from the medium\, and even though it is kind of magic\, anybody can do it – even people that can’t draw”. \nWorkshop fee: $70 WBG members\, $75 not-yet members\nRegister  here \nWorkshop limited to 10.

SUMMARY:Growing Up in the Woodstock Generation… In Song with Marc Black
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Marc Black\, NY Blues Hall of Fame Inductee\nFeaturing Multi-Media Design by Susan Black\nSpecial Guest Michael Esposito (Swami Salami) \nCome together for an evening of timeless music\, heartfelt memories\, and the undeniable spirit of the Woodstock Generation. \nPurchase tickets: https://bit.ly/4mYzPZd \nTake a heartfelt\, humorous\, and musical journey back in time with acclaimed singer-songwriter Marc Black in this unforgettable two-person show that celebrates the spirit\, culture\, and music of the Woodstock Generation. \nPart concert\, part storytelling\, and part visual time capsule\, Growing Up in the Woodstock Generation is a multi-dimensional experience designed to entertain\, enlighten\, and evoke nostalgia. Much like Marc’s acclaimed “History of the 1950s and ’60s Through Popular Song\,” this program dives deep into the transformative decades of the ’60s and ’70s—where music wasn’t just the soundtrack to our lives\, but a driving force behind social change\, spiritual exploration\, and a new way of seeing the world. \nMarc serves as both your musical guide and cultural historian\, performing iconic songs of the era—alongside his own originals—with warmth\, wit\, and wisdom. Each song is artfully framed with vivid storytelling\, transporting audiences to a time of flower power\, protest\, poetry\, and personal awakening. Expect laughter\, reflection\, and spontaneous singalongs. \nThe show is enhanced by a sparkling multi-media presentation by Susan Black\, weaving together archival images to create a rich\, immersive experience that captures the spirit of the times. \nAnd it all comes to life on Claudette\, Marc’s beloved guitar of 50 years\, a constant companion on his musical journey. \nMarc also shares captivating personal anecdotes\, including tales from his high school band’s rise to the Top 40 and tours with legends like The Doors\, Van Morrison\, and Neil Diamond. These moments add a rare and intimate behind-the-scenes glimpse into the rock ‘n’ roll era. \nWhether you lived through it or wish you had\, this event is a tribute to the joy\, struggle\, and soul of a generation that redefined music—and the world. \nDoors: 7 PM | Show: 7:30 PM\n$20 WBG members | $25 Not-yet-members \nPurchase tickets: https://bit.ly/4mYzPZd
