Byrdcliffe Family Day with Bari Koral and the Paul Green Rock Academy - Music for Kids and their Grown-Ups on Saturday, August 9
Performance Date and Times: Saturday, August 9, 2014, 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm
Location: Byrdcliffe Art Colony - White Pines, 454 Upper Byrdcliffe Road and Byrdcliffe Barn, 485 Upper Byrdcliffe Road, Woodstock, NY

The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, Bari Koral, the Paul Green Rock Academy, and Woodstock Meats are co-sponsoring a late-afternoon and evening of pop and rock with young and less-young music lovers in mind. First, starting at 4:30 pm on the beautiful lawn of White Pines, Bari Koral will regale the audience with her infectiously catchy yet musically sophisticated combination of rock, blues, and pop. What sets Bari apart from many other family-friendly musicians is that her songs are infinitely listenable no matter how old you are, with none of the overly simplified lyrics or monotonous rhythms that make parents wish their kids would grow up sooner rather than later.

The Paul Green Rock Academy is well known as one of the hottest acts in the Hudson Valley, and Byrdcliffe has proudly hosted many of Paul's concerts over the years. On August 9, it's the Paul Green Rock Academy Battle of the Bands starting at 7:30 pm in the Byrdcliffe Barn. Contestants aged 8-18 perform all original material for a panel of judges comprised of music industry professionals (booking agents, concert promoters, radio DJ's, musicians). First prize is a recording with world-class engineer Pete Caigan of Flymax Studios, a guest appearance on WDST's Tool Shed with Paul Green, and an opening slot at a PGRA show. Also performing is special guest the Five Points Band, an eclectic mix of monsters, madness and merriment all set to a very danceable beat. The Five Points Band's music is texture and insight into a world not always filled with happy endings, where outlaws can be heroes, where oddities are welcomed and monsters are friends. Formed in the Lower East Side of New York in the late 90's, The Five Points Band is a family spanning three generations. On stage the band creates an enchanted atmosphere, using three distinctive lead vocals which at times blend and soar in harmony.

Bari Koral's concert begins at 4:30 pm on the lawn of White Pines, 454 Upper Byrdcliffe Road. Afterwards there will be a free sandwich buffet generously sponsored by Woodstock Meats to hold everyone over until the concert in the Barn, and an Aikido demo in the lower Barn by Harvey Konigsberg and other instructors of Woodstock Aikido. The Five Points Band and Paul Green Rock Academy's Battle of the Bands start at 7:30 pm in the Byrdcliffe Barn, 485 Upper Byrdcliffe Road. The Barn is also where Bari Koral will perform if it rains. Rain or shine, this is not a day to be missed.

Tickets: $12 for Bari Koral; $18 for Paul Green Rock Academy / $25 for both (kids under 12 free).
