Mask Making Workshop

August 18 @ 6:30 pm - August 19 @ 8:00 pm

The face is the vessel we use for expression, and mask making is something all cultures share in one way or another. In this workshop, artist Leland Powley, will work with attendees in exploring the use of foam based clay in decorative mask making. Foam based clay is non-toxic, offers a very expressive brightness, can be easily molded and is extremely user friendly. It’s light weight construction and detailed sculpting properties make foam clay the ideal material for mask making.

Day one will offer an introduction to mask making and the materials used. Afterwards participants will create their own mask, with guidance and support from the instructor. Day two will consist of decorating and being creative with the masks made the previous day. Each participant will leave with a fully developed decorative mask that they can proudly display in their home.
