Arriving at Byrdcliffe

Co-curators, Henry T. Ford and Bruce Weber

An exhibition on the great history, nature, and legacy of the Byrdcliffe arts and craft colony, Arriving at Byrdcliffe will highlight the presence, activities and fascinating lives of many of the key residents, visitors, students and builders of Byrdcliffe over the course of more than a hundred years. Included will be works of art and craft, borrowed from Hudson Valley institutions and private collections. Expanding to recent times, it will also feature works by present-day artists of who have spent time at the arts colony and include images of newly renovated structures paired with buildings from the past. The title, Arriving at Byrdcliffe, has a double meaning – both “physically arriving,” and “artistically arriving.”
